Teaching students to apply knowledge and skills on “Time” through hands-on activities is more effective than chalk and talk. To reinforce understanding of “Time”, the students of Standard 1 were assigned the task of building their own clocks.

Students used materials such as paper plates, colour papers, decorative items, scissors, glue, and colour pencils to create their clock faces.

Upon completion of their creation, students proceeded to fiddle with their longhand and shorthand on the clock face to denote different time accurately.

With this self-made clock, the students learn the concept of the hour and the minute hand; it helps them become proficient and confident with the concepts of time.

What a perfect and effective way to introduce learning what “hourly, quarterly, half past, and three quarter” of the hour mean.
